Mercy Bend
Horror Fiction for Adults Only
(links to the stories are below)

Look, the Mercy Bend podcast was intended as a place to stick some of my previously written stories out on a podcast.  I d usted them off, changed a few words, and got to talking...but then I started putting music to the thing, then I started putting in sound effects just for play, and then I began writing new stories until the dang thing has now reached book length and more.  Who knew.  Meanwhile AnonLiterary Magazine heard me do a live reading of a couple Mercy Bend Stories whereupon they asked me to submit something to their magazine.  That lead, as of this writing, to six Mercy Bend stories published in their magazine in nine months.  Pretty good considering that I actually stopped submitting short stories quite some time ago.

So what is Mercy Bend.  Horror short fiction, I guess.  Until some people took me by the ears and shook me I never realized that I wrote horror fiction.  I mean look, I don't really read horror.  I don't really watch horror, so why would I think I wrote horror fiction?  However, I had to conclude that I did write horror fiction when most of the shorts that I actually did get published wound up in horror magazines, when I was interviewed on Second Life T.V. as a horror author, and when I was interviewed at a Second Life Horror Fest in 2008 as a horror writer.  With that evidence I had no choice but to conclude that I was a horror writer.  Truthfully, I just thought I had a sick and twisted mind.  Okay, I probably do, but it is twisted in a horror writer sort of way.

And on to Mercy Bend itself.  A podcast, of course, which can be followed along on my Podcast pages link...go on...click on it...follow it along to The Hell Hole Tavern.  No?  Well okay, then you are sticking with me.  A rundown on Mercy Bend.

Once upon a time there was a small town called Mercy Bend.  Within that town there was a mental facility called Mercy Bend.  The facility is taken over by a demented woman from the future who conducts experiments on human subjects to discover the psychological and physical limits of the human mind and body.  She does this with pain and drugs and humiliation...oh yes...and also with nano technology that she has brought back from the future with her.  Bad Dr. Wise.  So, the stories in Mercy Bend follow some of the residents of the town until the time arrives that Dr. Wise takes over the mental sanitarium.  These are nice people who are engaged in small matters like murder and torture and death and a few other unsavory matters.  Enter Dr. Wise, and now we begin following those she has experimented on.  A woman who can change her shape at will...a man who can walk through walls, another man who can tear those walls down with his bare hands.  However, being Mercy Bend, there are a few twists.  These people and the others are all criminally insane, which makes them three degrees more sane than the good doctor.  I would like to give you a complete rundown of all the short stories, but I have not written them all yet.  Truthfully, I doubt I will ever have them all written.  I believe that I will keep coming back to dear Mercy Bend to write just one more story.

Anyway, enough with the babbling.  The links below will take you to a couple of the stories.  You can judge if you like them. AnonLiterary Magazine did because these are a few of the stories Anon published.
