The Turner Chronicles is a four book series revolving around Aaron Turner. He is a smallish unassuming fellow who has an amazing ability to teleport between two different worlds. Where you or I might use this ability to further human insight and understanding (Yeah. Right) The people controlling Aaron, a rather ambitious militia, are using Aaron as their spearhead for taking over a rather backward world.

The world is called, well the world. Earth. After all, they don't know they are different. However, the country Aaron winds up in is Isabella, a rather small place in a newly discovered world. Technologically backward, it is reminiscent of our twelve hundreds up to our eighteen hundreds. Iron poor, they are gold rich, so it has little value. Oh yeah, they are man poor too. Four or five women for every man. The reason is explained in the books.

In book one, Traitor, poor Aaron is a torn soul.  A virgin at 24, he lives in a world of strong women, he learns of life and friendship and health after years of being a cripple within the militia.  In Traitor he deals with two governments who want to use him.  He faces war and murder and finds love.  Most of all, he becomes a pivot in two worlds, a source of conflict and hope.  Not bad for a twenty-four year old virgin who is filled with self-doubt and loathing, fellow who is perhaps a bit slow in believing that that such things as Talent and magic exists in a world where more is going on beneath his radar than he ever expected.

Each of the four Turner Chronicle books begins on a larger canvas, taking Aaron from a small sleepy town to a large city, across the ocean, and into an Empire where he faces his largest challenge yet.  In each book the stakes become greater, the challenges more daunting, and Aaron becomes just a little bit more beaten down.  However, for a small self-doubting man, Aaron has an iron core of responsibility and integrity that forces him to take steps whenever he sees something that is wrong.
Unfortunately, that integrity has a tendency to put him deeper and deeper into the soup pot.  Below are links that will give you a few chapters from each book.  At this time Book One, Traitor, is mostly edited, but you are not seeing the final version.  Books Two through Four have not been through the editing and clean up process.  Observing the difference should give you some insight as to how much good editors help a book.
